Math Problem of the Week

Nov. 6th (4th math problem): Mrs. Kutcy surveyed her Grade One students. She asked "What is your favourite seaason"? 10 of her students said Summer. 4 of her students said Fall. 5 of her students said Winter. 3 of her students said Spring. How could Mrs. Kutcy show this data (information) on a graph? Which season is the most popular for Mrs. Kutcy's Gr 1 class? Which season is the least popular for Mrs. Kutcy's Gr 1 class?

Oct. 11th (3rd math problem): Mrs. Kutcy is making a bracelet. First she puts on a red bead. Then she puts on a green bead. Then she puts on a blue bead. She starts repeating this colour pattern core. What colour will the thirteenth bead on her bracelet be? (Show how you solved this problem.)

Sept. 25th (2nd math problem): Sort the socks in your sock drawer into 3 groups: light colour socks, dark colour socks and multi-colour socks. Which group has the most pairs of socks? Which group has the least? Did any of your groups have an equal amount?

Sept. 5th (1st math problem): Mrs. Kutcy went to her cottage 2 times in July and 3 times in August. How many times did she visit the cottage this summer?
